Before you lock it in

A better decision starts
with better questions.

Use the course name as your starting point. Look at what you’ll actually do each week.

Explore institutions ↗
01

Read the syllabus

Compare core subjects, electives and projects across your shortlisted colleges.

02

Look inside the department

Ask about teaching, accessible labs, student work and internship support.

03

Put outcomes in context

Look for the placement year, eligible students, number placed and median salary—not just the highest offer.

04

Check the practical fit

Confirm admission rules, total fees, location and support before making your choice.

The questions everyone has

A little clarity goes a long way.

Is the branch with the most seats the best choice?

Seat counts show approved capacity. They do not measure teaching, student experience, demand or placements. Use the figures to understand availability, then assess the actual department.

Should I choose a broad branch or a specialisation?

Compare the compulsory subjects and elective freedom. A specialisation can focus your learning, while a broader programme may give you more room to explore. Similar names can hide very different syllabuses.

Can two similar course names mean the same thing?

Sometimes. Universities use different naming conventions. The source register can also record variants separately. Check the degree awarded, programme level and syllabus before treating courses as equivalent.

Does a branch guarantee a particular career or salary?

No. Outcomes depend on your skills, institution, experience and the opportunities available when you graduate. The career directions here are examples to explore.
